As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you'll be on the front lines of patient care. While "Nursing Assistant" may not be the most glorified job title in a hospital or nursing care facility, it's certainly one of the most vital to daily operations. Your compassion and skill in patient care will help minimize the stress of those who are sick or unable to care for themselves.

CNAs work under the supervision of nursing or medical staff to provide basic patient care, planning and assessments including – recording vital signs, height, weight, intake/output, collect and test specimens, report and record patient's condition and patient treatments.

"The best RNs started as CNAs” says Covenant CNA School Program Coordinator. Becoming a CNA can be a stepping stone before becoming a Registered Nurse.

A Certified Nursing Assistant job is a great entry point for a nursing career. You'll be deeply involved in patient-care, making sure that sick and injured patients have their basic needs met.

You might want to consider taking the time to receive your training to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) before applying for Nursing School. Some Nursing Schools require CNA certification as a prerequisite before applying for the nursing program.

If you work as a Nursing Assistant, you will have the opportunity to determine if working in the healthcare field is right for you. After working as a nursing assistant for awhile you might realize that you want to further your career as a healthcare provider.

Nursing schools can be quite competitive and some are even difficult to receive admission. You will have an edge over other students who do not have their CNA training. If you have worked for awhile as a CNA, this will provide you with valuable experience that can not only help you to be admitted to nursing school, but can also leave you better prepared for your training.

The Covenant Program emphasizes hands-on, interactive learning activities and our instructors possess a combination of teaching experience, subject matter expertise and applied real world experience. Covenant offers Day, Evening and Weekend courses to accommodate your busy schedule.
