CPR AND FIRST AID

Covenant CNA School offers CPR and First Aid through the American Heart Association. Our courses are open to the community and corporations. CPR and First Aid classes can be scheduled at your company, church, school or other locations. For more information call 404-733-5491.

CPR training is not confined to medical professionals. To be effective, CPR must be applied immediately after a patient's heart and lung has stopped. Early CPR on the scene of an incident is essential to the prevention of brain damage during a cardiac arrest. Blood flow and air supply to the brain and other major organs is maintained until a defibrillator and professional medical help arrives. Almost anyone is able to perform CPR with training, and health organizations advocate the development of CPR skills throughout the general public. You can visit the American Heart Association at http:heart.org/.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers  Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Heartsaver AED with Pediatric CPR Course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an AED. Child and infant CPR skills may be taught if students live or work in a setting where children are present.

Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and to give first aid for choking for responsive adult, child and infant victims. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major-medical emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and choking.

Heartsaver First Aid Course
includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA, all in a format that can be delivered in a single day. The course is modular to meet the needs of a specific workplace or group of employees. The core module comprises general principles, medical emergencies and injury emergencies.

CPR in Schools and the Community This program is designed for children in middle school and high school. It covers adult, child and infant procedures.

BCLS Instructor Recertification The AHA requires recertification during the odd number years. Instructors must demonstrate knowledge and skills verification for card reissuance.

BCLS Instructor
:  This is an AHA course designed to educate instructor candidates for CPR Instructor certification. Candidates must hold current BCLS Healthcare Provider card, complete the Core Instructor Program and will be required to recertify competency in BCLS skills.

Note: The American Heart Association has many training options available to help you become certified as well as many Continuing Ed CME / CEU unit credit online programs.

Although you may find many web based programs that offer CPR and the ability to print out a card, the only way you can receive an American Heart Association certification card is to use their program(s) and complete a skills check off by an AHA Instructor.

To see all the online options that the AHA has to offer as well as take an online course, visit www.onlineaha.org

If you are interested in taking the AHA online option  contact Covenant CNA School once you complete the online program  at 404-733-5491 to schedule an appointment for your Skills Check-off. There is a $25 Check Off Fee.
